Horeca Kuwait 2008 wraps with unprecedented turnout
May 14, 2008. The fourth edition of Horeca Kuwait Hospitality and Food Exhibition, which wrapped up on May 13, was an event to celebrate this year, attracting a record 2,000 visitors with the participation of around 35 exhibitors. This is an unprecedented turnout of industry key players and decision-makers. Visitors had the chance to meet the market’s elite and get an in-depth look at new trends, products, and services.
The annual three-day event was a platform for immediate business opportunities and a launching pad for future business prospects. Exhibitors showcasing their services said the event was a most fulfilling experience that allowed them more exposure and market awareness and generated further business opportunities. Labeling the show a success in many ways, exhibitors confirmed their participation in the 2009 edition of Horeca Kuwait. Rabee Baadarani, general manager of the Kuwait-based Universal Business Solutions Company (UBS), one of the organizing companies, said, “The event was indispensable for any related business that deals with various aspects of hospitality.” Joumana Dammous Salamé, managing director of Lebanon’s Hospitality Services sarl, co-organizer added, “It was above expectations. A series of deals were signed and contracts finalized during the show.”
The organizers promised that next year the hospitality forum “will be even bigger and more diversified” so as to meet the needs of the ever expanding hospitality industry.
An array of activities and events featured at the 2008 edition of Horeca Kuwait. The Culinary Art Show gave the exhibition a lively spin through a series of contests. It included some 85 participants from chefs, cooks, and kitchen professionals from over 15 establishments, who competed in eight different categories such as live cooking, pastry, mezza, sandwiches, and showpieces. Participants were assessed by an international panel of well-known judges from Europe and the Middle East and daily guest star chefs. Other highlights included the Table-Setting Competition under the theme of “1001 Nights”, and the second Illy Barista Competition.
